DP Gachagua calls on Cate Waruguru to tone down after fiery outburst to President Ruto.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday night asked one of his fiercest supporters, Cate Waruguru, to shun bashing his political rivals as he seeks to cool the political temperatures.
The former Laikipia East Woman Representative had visited embattled Gachagua at his home to offer her support as talks about his impeachment continued to gather steam.
Gachagua warned Waruguru against fanning the political flames by bashing Kenya Kwanza leaders who were against him.
“I need you to tone down because what you said the other day was quite explosive,” Gachagua told the former lawmaker.
He added, “We don’t have a problem with anyone. Let’s sit back and work for Kenya.”
The Deputy President was likely referring to a series of jarring remarks made by Waruguru in the past week, as she sought to bite back against leaders who had ganged up against Gachagua.
During the burial of Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Wanyua, Waruguru fired a warning to MPs pushing for Gachagua’s impeachment saying they would not stand a chance in the 2027 polls.
“We want to tell those bringing impeachment motion; some of them are my sisters and they are looking for signatures to send Gachagua home.
People are watching you very closely. Anyone who wants to fight his or her elder brother will be sent home early in the morning,” Waruguru stated.

In a separate public address in Githurai, Nairobi, the outspoken politician went on another tirade against President William Ruto’s allies, accusing them of being cartels who wanted to fleece public resources.
She also directly faulted the President for apparently conning Gachagua, leading Githurai residents in the infamous “Ruto must go” chants.
“Rigathi Gachagua is a truthful man but they don’t want to know the truth. I want to say here today that William Ruto will be a one-term president.”
The DP’s apparent change in tune comes at an interesting time, especially since he was up in arms defending himself against an impeachment motion barely a week ago.
Last Friday, Gachagua appeared to further dent his relationship with the President when he went on TV to subtly tell Ruto to ‘get his house in order’.
He was adamant that a section of members of Parliament were bribed to move an impeachment motion against him.
