Gender determination of a child: tips on how to get pregnant with a boy

3 min read

Gender determination of a child at conception can be tricky. Some couples are desperate to conceive a child of a specific gender.

While most couples are content with either a boy or a girl baby as long as it is healthy and strong, some are eager to try to improve their chances of having a boy.

However, there are no guarantees, and the chances of having a boy or a girl are nearly the same for every pregnancy.

There are wild claims by some companies asserting their ability to predict the gender of the child.

It’s important to note that the timing of intercourse is the only scientifically verified approach that can change the odds even marginally.

Gender determination is unaffected by diet, lunar calendars, sexual positions, or even boy/girl patterning within families.

It’s only men who can influence the gender of the baby, not women. Men provide the sperm that either has an X (girl) or Y (boy) linked sex chromosome.

Male sperm cells (carrying Y chromosomes) are smaller, lighter, faster, and more fragile than female sperm cells (carrying X chromosomes), which are larger, heavier, slower, but more durable.

Because a healthy male sperm cell would most likely reach the egg first, having intercourse as close to ovulation as feasible increases your chances of producing a boy.

Research also shows that the odds of conceiving a boy are slightly higher if sexual intercourse occurred many days before ovulation.

As a result, having intercourse as near to ovulation as possible increases your chances of having a boy, because a healthy male sperm cell will most likely reach the egg first.

Gender determination, top tips

  • Time sex to coincide with the day of ovulation (no earlier than 24 hours before you are about to ovulate).

You have sex on your peak day (the day you are most fertile) or the day after. Your peak day usually occurs the day before you ovulate or the day of ovulation itself.

  • Deep penetrative sex is preferable.
  • AI-Artificial insemination (AI) is used because the technique is typically performed as near to ovulation as possible.
  • Age-Younger males have a larger sperm cell count, which increases the chances of a male sperm cell reaching the egg, while younger women have more plentiful, alkaline-quality cervical fluid, which also favors boy conception.

Facts and fallacy on gender determination

Men, not women, have an impact on the baby’s gender. Men produce sperm with an X (girl) or Y (boy) sex chromosome connected to it.

There’s no way to know for sure whether you’ll have a boy or a girl. Hoping and trying for a boy or girl is simply that, and it makes no difference to the odds.

One testicle does not produce girl sperm and the other boy sperm.

Both produce an equal quantity of X and Y sperm, and the egg is fertilized by chance rather than management.

Some men appear to produce higher-quality X or Y sperm, which could explain why some families have disproportionately large numbers of girls or boys.

Herbal and alternative medicine treatments have no effect on whether you’ll have a girl or a boy.

They frequently make false statements that are not supported by scientific evidence.
