Granit Xhaka apologizes to Arsenal fans after red card vs Liverpool
Granit Xhaka breaks silence with an apology message to Arsenal fans after red card vs Liverpool game
Xhaka broke his silence following his red card against Liverpool on Thursday evening in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg
The Switzerland international apologized to Arsenal supporters following his red card in the first half of the game.
Despite the visitors playing the majority of the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg at Anfield with a man fewer, Arsenal managed to hold out for a goalless draw.
Granit Xhaka was shown a straight red card, which was his fifth sending off in his Arsenal career, for a challenge on Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota, that prevented the Portugal international a chance on goal.
The player took to Instagram with a post, “I want to apologize to everyone. I am so proud of my team and the spirit that they showed to keep a clean sheet tonight. #GX34.”
Arsenal’s midfielder will now miss the Premier League’s north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, as well as the second leg against Liverpool on Thursday.
