“He’s our player and under contract, so he is going nowhere”; Arsenal boss respond to exit rumours of player
Arsenal boss Mike Arteta has responded to exit rumours of an Arsenal top player saying the Arsenal front-man is going nowhere.
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah been linked with a move to Aston Villa but the Arsenal boss is saying No.
Despite the struggles of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang – who has already been exiled by Mikel Arteta – Nketiah, 22, has only made three Premier League appearances off the bench this season.
Nketiah has scored five goals in four EFL Cup games for Arsenal, and his record of 16 goals in 17 England under-21 matches is very outstanding.
Despite Nketiah’s expiring contract, Arsenal manager Arteta insists the striker will not leave the club this month.
In a press conference earlier this month, Arteta said: “The situation is that Eddie is our player, he’s under contract so he is going to stay here with us.”
With Steven Gerrard’s purchasing spree poised to continue, Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.
Nketiah is reportedly being ‘considered’ by Villa, according to the Athletic.
Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, and Swedish goalkeeper Robin Olsen have already joined Villa, while highly-rated Scottish defender Kerr Smith has joined the club’s under-23s.
Villa have strengthened multiple areas, but Gerrard still has room to recruit a new center-back, midfielder, and center-forward.
In recent days, the club has been connected with a surprise transfer for ex-Liverpool and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.
When Suarez’s contract with Atletico Madrid expires in July, he will be available on a free transfer, and a reunion with Gerrard, with whom he played at Anfield, is expected.
Villa, on the other hand, are rumored to be interested in signing a new striker this window, and Arsenal’s Nketiah is one option.
