Joel Glazer performs a last-minute U-turn on Man United’s forward exit

2 min read

Joel Glazer, Manchester United’s owners, did a last-minute u-turn on Antony Martial, who seemed ready to leave the club.

Joel Glazer has always been a fan of Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial.

When Jose Mourinho was in charge of Manchester United, he wanted to sell Anthony Martial.

That was in 2017, and now, nearly five years later, Sevilla owner Joel Glazer has reversed his decision by allowing the France international to join them on loan.

However, a second chance could be on the cards after the team failed to reach a deal with the La Liga club to sign him permanently in the summer.

Martial was supposed to be United’s future at one point.

During the dark days of Louis van Gaal’s reign, when Old Trafford’s fear factor was at an all-time low, the France international shone brightly.

Under the Dutchman, Martial was a revelation, scoring 17 goals in his first season at the club and helping them win the FA Cup.

He’s struggled to maintain consistency since then.

Martial has had several strong seasons, such as the 2019/2020 season when he scored 23 goals and added nine assists across all competitions under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Yet, despite Monaco’s expectations that he would one day be a contender for the Ballon d’Or, he has never developed into the player he was born to be.
