Kalonzo defends DP Gachagua over impending impeachment in Nyeri

Kalonzo says DP Gachagua impeachment plot is a ploy a weak attempt to divert Kenyans' attention away from the Adani heist

Kalonzo says DP Gachagua impeachment plot is a ploy a weak attempt to divert Kenyans’ attention away from the Adani heist.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka held a massive roadside rally in Nyeri on Thursday, September 26.

In an update on X shortly after the rally, the former Vice President thanked the people of Nyeri for the warm reception, and declared his support for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of his alleged impeachment.

Kalonzo stated that should Members of Parliament bring a motion to impeach Gachagua, they should also table another motion to impeach President William Ruto.

The Wiper leader said the calls for Gachagua’s impeachment were engineered to drive Kenyans’ attention from the JKIA-Adani deal.

“Let me be clear: if they bring a Motion to Impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Parliament, they should also bring one against William Ruto.

“Anything else is nonsense, a weak attempt to divert Kenyans’ attention away from the Adani heist and the perpetrators behind the nefarious scheme,” Kalonzo wrote on X.

This comes a week after Kalonzo called out the Kenya Kwanza regime over attempts to abuse The Constitution of Kenya.

On Friday, September 20, he issued a statement accusing Ruto’s administration of trying to silence Kenyans’ constitutional rights.

“Rogue elements of the KK administration have abducted, kidnapped, and executed Kenyan youth, whose only “crime” was the peaceful exercise of their constitutional rights – guaranteed under Article 37 – to publicly express their displeasure against the multitude of lies, inefficiencies, discrepancies, abuses and excesses perpetuated by an inept regime,” he said in his statement.

Kalonzo termed the abductions and eventual executions as crimes against humanity further demanding that Ruto take responsibility for them.

“Our Founding Fathers and Mothers dream and vision of an independent, democratic, progressive and inclusive Republic where every voice, regardless of colour, or tribe, or religion, has the right to be heard and listened to, is in peril.

“As a matter of conscience, I demand that Mr Ruto accept political and socio-economic responsibility for the brazen atrocities committed against our youth,” he further stated.

Additionally, the Wiper leader demanded that police officers tied to mysterious disappearances be brought to account.
