Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit out at President William Ruto over the insecurity cases being witnessed in the country.

Speaking at the SKM Command Centre on Wednesday, October 30, the former Vice President said Ruto should be held accountable for the abductions, phone-spying, and extrajudicial killings in the country.

“It is our contention that the President of the Republic of Kenya carries the biggest responsibility for police phone spying, state-sponsored abductions, hijackings, and extrajudicial Killings,” he stated.

Kalonzo added, “Despite overwhelming evidence including that of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the impeachment trial, Mr. Ruto continues to claim that he is not aware of any such incidents. Ruto further says that these abductions, and extrajudicial killings are “fake news and propaganda that is hurting our nation. We want to make it clear to Mr.

Ruto that, it is his ill-thought-out efforts to revert Kenya to a police state that are hurting the nation. The buck stops with him. Ruto should resign with immediate effect for violating his Oath of Office “to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the public of Kenya,” and that he would “obey, preserve and protect this constitution of Kenya.”

Kalonzo also paid tribute to Nation journalists who recently published an exposé that showed how the police use mobile phone records to track and capture suspects.

“We take this moment to pay tribute to the brave Nation Media Group journalists, for releasing their investigations in a time of such great danger for practitioners. Regardless of the media outlet, Media Council journalists have been brutally attacked by security agents.

“We understand your equipment has been illegally confiscated. We know that a fair number of you have been taken to court and gag orders issued stopping you from publishing on certain topics, organizations, or personalities,” he added.

Cases of insecurity have been on the rise in the country. The recent abduction of fierce government critic and blogger Maverick Aoko has sparked outrage among Kenyans.

This comes barely a month after KANU communications officer Cornelius Ronoh was abducted and later dumped in the streets by people believed to be security officers.

At the same time, a section of Gen Z and millennials who participated in the Gen Z protests have been reported missing.

At the same time, the country recently witnessed the brutal murders of three women from Eastleigh and Willis Ayieko, an HR boss at Wells Fargo.
