On Thursday evening a multi-agency security team broke into Wanjigi’s Muthaiga home after they had camped outside the residence for hours.
The officers conducted a search of the residence as they were looking for the renowned businessman.
According to Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli, the police intercepted a vehicle outside the businessman’s residence and recovered several items from the vehicle, including 4 teargas canisters and police communication devices.
Wanjigi’s mother has however come out to defend his son saying he is not a criminal.
“It is very unfortunate that this had to happen after Jimi’s father was buried about a month ago. I’m the mother of Jimi; I’ve known him very well since childhood and he has never been a criminal. He is a loving son, father and husband,” she told the media on Friday.
