A light aircraft with two onboard has crashed and burst into flames in Ikanga village, Voi, Taita Taveta.

According to witnesses, the aircraft fell from the sky and immediately burst into flames. Videos showed a huge burst of flames engulfing the plane moments after it hit the ground.

Reports indicate that the two individuals aboard the plane tragically could not escape before it was engulfed in flames. Some reports indicate that only one person has died from the incident, but there is no official confirmation yet.

The incident has drawn a significant response, with police and first responders converging at the scene.

Witnesses have shared videos and images depicting the frantic efforts of first responders as they worked to extinguish the blazing aircraft.

The area surrounding the site has been cordoned off, with a large crowd of onlookers gathering to witness the aftermath of this unfortunate event.

The plane, which from the images looks like a Cessna 172, has its front completely torched.

Images of the aftermath show parts of the wheels, tail, and wings all burned and in pieces.

In January, two fatal aircraft accidents were reported. On January 10, a light aircraft crash-landed in Malindi County, resulting in the deaths of three individuals on the ground, including a motorcycle taxi driver and a rider with his passenger.

The plane burst into flames upon impact near the Malindi-Mombasa highway. The pilot and two students aboard managed to escape before the crash and were treated for injuries.

Later that month, on January 30, a Cessna 185 aircraft crashed at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha, killing both individuals on board. The flight had departed from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport en route to Mbaruk before the accident occurred around 5:14pm.
