Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has slammed Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen after the latter claimed that President William Ruto has done a good job two years after assuming office.
In a response on Saturday, December 8, Mutunga dismissed Murkomen’s remarks as sycophantic, claiming that lying requires some intelligence.
The former CJ wondered how a nation can develop when the ruling class is accused of a number of vices.
“How do you develop the country when the entire ruling class is guilty of theft, corruption, wastage, politics of division, and enslavement by foreign interests? Lying requires intelligence which is lacking in these sycophantic utterances,” Mutunga remarked.
On Saturday, Murkomen claimed that the Head of State has done a magnificent job in office under difficult circumstances.

Speaking at the Kapkugo Cultural Festival in Bungoma County, the CS stated that Ruto has delivered on his manifesto and accused some critics of attempting to judge the president based on the entire terms of past administrations.
“President Ruto has done a fantastic job in two years under very difficult circumstances. There are many critics who want to judge him with the entire terms of past presidents. But as a matter of fact, if you take two years of every president when they came to office, President Ruto has done extremely well in two years.
“I have also never seen another president who is so meticulous in sticking every line of his manifesto. Go and pick the Kenya Kwanza manifesto and tell us where the president has failed. Our country is back on a path of growth and the trajectory we are taking is going to make this country great,” Murkomen remarked.
