Manchester City on verge of signing another wonderkid after ‘beating Man Utd to Julian Alvarez’
Manchester City are set to land their second prospect of the January transfer window after beating Man Utd to Julian Alvarez.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is expected to complete two acquisitions this month, with Hungarian winger Zalan Vancsa joining Julian Alvarez at the Etihad.
Because of their success, Guardiola and his team were never seriously considered for January’s top attacking target, Dusan Vlahovic, instead focused on future recruitment.
Hungarian wonderkid Vancsa is ‘on the verge’ of finalizing his move to the north west, according to The Telegraph.
Talks with MTK Budapest have been ongoing this month, and City look to have edged out European giants like AC Milan and Buyern Muchen for the signature.
Vancsa has only scored one goal in ten league games this season, despite the fact that he is only three months past his 17th birthday.
Guardiola’s willingness to give youth an opportunity will be excellent news for Julian Alvarez, who is set to join City from River Plate for £18 million this month.
After nothing piqued United’s attention, it appears that he will finish the season in Buenos Aires before linking up with his new teammates in the blue half of Manchester.
Alvarez has established himself as a potent finisher since making his senior debut as a teenager, and parallels to City icon Sergio Aguero are only certain to grow once he completes his impending move to the Etihad.
Despite his youth, he has already scored 34 goals for River Plate and made five Argentina national team appearances.
As a result, Alvarez is expected to have an immediate impact in Guardiola’s first-team plans next season, especially after the departure of Ferran Torres.
