Manchester United Fc have drawn a five-man managerial shortlist, with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in the mix.

However, the Red Devils have reportedly added Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui to the five-man shortlist of managerial targets.

After the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this season, Ralf Rangnick was named temporary manager at Old Trafford, with a permanent appointment expected ahead of next season.

According to the Guardian, Man Utd are considering Lopetegui with big-name candidates such as Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Thomas Tuchel, and Luis Enrique.

Those other options make sense for the Red Devils, but Lopetegui appears to be a strange decision given his lack of experience managing a large club.

The Spanish strategist has impressed during his time at Sevilla, but he also had a brief and disappointing spell at Real Madrid, and he doesn’t appear to be the type of large figure needed to take on such a difficult task at United at the moment.

Meanwhile, it would be some statement if United could poach Tuchel from Chelsea, but fans would surely also be happy with most of the other names on there.
