Nakuru MPs accuse Oscar Sudi, Rift Valley politicians of fighting them for fallout with Susan Kihika
A section of Nakuru politicians allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have hit out at Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and other Rift Valley politicians for leading a campaign against them.
The MPs claim the move is due to their differences with Nakuru governor Susan Kihika. What accusations did Nakuru MPs raise against Sudi?
Speaking in Kamara on Sunday, May 10, the legislators, led by Nakuru County Woman Representative Liza Chelule and Kuresoi North MP Alfred Mutai, said the onslaught by Sudi and other leaders was carried out in Kuresoi North and Kuresoi South constituencies, which are predominantly occupied by the Kalenjin community in what they claimed was an attempt to consolidate Kihika’s reelection bid.
Mutai accused the said leaders of trying to bully them into submission to rally behind Kihika as she faces the daunting task of seeking re-election.
He said the county boss has done little to improve the lives of the residents of the two constituencies and, as such, is using leaders from other constituencies to box them in.
“For the past few days and weeks, we have seen an influx of visiting leaders coming here to dictate us on the political direction we should take. We want to tell them that we are in charge of the political destiny in our county,” the MP said.
He also noted that some of the leaders who were in the frontline being used to disparage him and other leaders with divergent views suffered the axe of the electorate in the last elections, and as such have no moral ground to dictate to them their destiny.

According to the Kuresoi North MP, voters will evaluate Governor Kihika based on her performance and not on political correctness.
“Some of those who were in attendance at the Olenguruone meeting were calling for our political punishment because we have not toed the line, but the same people, including Isaac Ruto and Charles Keter, were felled by people when they sought Gubernatorial seats in 2022,” he said.
On her part, the Nakuru woman rep said UDA politicians should not aggravate the differences between Governor Kihika and other elected leaders. She said that they should be seeking reconciliation and cohesion among leaders to avoid plunging the county into political uncertainty.
“Nakuru is a very special county that needs careful engagement. It is a cosmopolitan county, and as such, leaders should not attempt to create a collision between leaders and communities for the sake of seeking power,” she said.
On Friday, May 8, Sudi led youth and women empowerment drives in three Nakuru constituencies: Rongai, Kuresoi North and Kuresoi South.
The events were used to drum up support for Kihika’s reelection.
