OKA Coalition Partners Sidelined Me In Deal With Azimio, Martha Karua Claims
Martha Karua, NARC-Kenya party leader has claimed One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals did not include her when they decided to form a coalition with Azimio La Umoja.
Karua while speaking in an interview with NTV on Monday, March 21, said OKA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU) and Cyrus Jirongo (UDP) decided to go ahead on their own to join Azimio La Umoja without including her.
“One Kenya Alliance (OKA) was a collaboration for the sole purpose of negotiating together. But our colleagues decided to sign an agreement on their own during the Azimio National Delegates Conference. This means the sole purpose of forming OKA failed on that day. But we are still friends,” she said.
However, Martha Karua declined to describe the action by Kalonzo, Jirongo and Gideon as betrayal, saying the three were at liberty to do as they wished.
“As NARC-Kenya, we cannot hold anyone back. I don’t want to use the word betrayal because we all had the freedom to opt-in or out of OKA. So it is their right,” Karua said.
She maintained that OKA was formed to negotiate as one force ahead of the upcoming August 9 General Election.
Karua maintained that she was comfortable in NARC-Kenya and was still open to negotiations with like-minded political players.
“Martha Karua belongs to NARC-Kenya she is not outside in the rain. She is comfortable in a home. There is no deadline for people getting coalitions; we can still walk together even with my former OKA team players,” he added.
