The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) in a statement dated Sunday, February 17, said Kenyans interested in joining training programmes for cohort 31 were advised to adhere to the requirements established in the constitution of Kenya.

“In accordance with Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Article 53 (1)(b) of the constitution of Kenya and in adherence to Sections 28 and 30 of the Basic Education Act 2013 and Section 7 of the Children Act 2010, all trainees admitted to cohort 31 should possess a minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate,” read the statement in part.

The over 130 training institutions were further advised to upload the trainees’ authentic copies of KCPE and KCSE certificates or results transcripts through the NITA booking portal to allow approval of the candidates.

The admission for the trainees would end on Wednesday, February 21, as training kicks off on the same day until March 5.

Registered candidates are required to attend the lessons to avoid being disqualified.

Moreover, trainees who failed to report for assessment or failed assessments in all the previous cohorts were allowed a last chance as NITA phased out the previous curriculum.

Their assessment date will be communicated at a later date.

“As a measure to phase out the old curriculum, candidates who either failed to report for assessments or failed in the summative assessment under the previous cohorts (cohorts 1 to 30) will be allowed a last opportunity to undertake a supplementary assessment at a date to be communicated,” the statement added.

This comes after President William Ruto announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had agreed to employ 2,500 Kenyans in nursing and personal health facilities.
