Oscar Sudi promises exposé on top officials benefitting from government tenders

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hinted at an oncoming exposé that will reveal ranking government officials who are flouting their codes of conduct to do business with the state

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hinted at an oncoming exposé that will reveal ranking government officials who are flouting their codes of conduct to do business with the state.

In an explosive Facebook update on Saturday, November 9, the lawmaker suggested that certain heads of corporations and parastatals had taken advantage of their positions to hijack the government’s procurement operations.

He further revealed that the accused people were not trading directly but hiding behind proxies and partners.

Sudi implied that he took the time to probe the workings of the procurement departments in the state bodies and ministries.

“I’m finalising on an earthshaking report that will expose government officers, majorly heads of procurement in parastatals and ministries who are favouring their own companies under proxies to scoop multimillion government tenders,” he said.

The lawmaker pointed out that through their shady undertakings, the bureaucrats were discriminating against qualified businessmen who sought to supply to the government.

“These well-known individuals are discriminating against and mistreating legit businessmen by locking them out of public government tenders despite being qualified. I will be calling out these culprits one by one who has our ministries in a chokehold,” said Sudi.

Sudi is known to be among the people who call the shots in the current regime, thanks to his proximity with President William Ruto.

He is among the people who authoritatively spoke to former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.

Before the motion was even admitted to the National Assembly, Sudi had already given indications of how the process would be undertaken; he, at one point, shared that the ouster would be finalised within two weeks.

True to the MP’s words, the motion to impeach Gachagua was brought to the National Assembly, where 282 MPs -Sudi included- voted in favour.

In the course of the former deputy president’s impeachment trial in the Senate, Sudi came out to hint that the next holder of the post would be from Mt Kenya, where Gachagua hails.

He explained that the vote region was among the cornerstones of the Ruto administration.

The vocal lawmaker reiterated that those within the government did not have a problem with the region despite the impeachment motion against one of their own.

“There’s no doubt Murima is at the core of this government. No one has an issue with the majority of leaders from the mountain, save for one ill-behaved character,” he stated, adding that “even his replacement will surely come from the mountain. Sure bet.”
