Parliament releases vetting order for Ruto’s new cabinet nominees
The Clerk of the National Assembly on Thursday, July 25, released the vetting order for President William Ruto’s new cabinet nominees.
According to the notification of approval hearings, the vetting process will take place between Thursday, August 1, and Sunday, August 4.
The vetting order was prepared after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula referred nominees to the Committee Appointments to be considered for approval by the House.
As per the order, Kithure Kindiki will be the first to be vetted for the position of Interior and National Administration.
This was the position he earlier held before President Ruto dismissed his entire cabinet following nationwide unrest.
Other nominees who will be vetted on Thursday, August 1, include Debra Barasa (Health), Alice Wahome (Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development), Julius Ogamba (Education), and Roselinda Soipan Tuya (Defence).
On Friday, August 2, the Committee will start by vetting Andrew Karanja who has been nominated as CS for Agriculture and Livestock Development to replace Mithika Linturi.
Thereafter, the Committee will vet Aden Duale (Environment, Climate Change and Forestry), Eric Muuga (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation), Davis Chirichir (Roads and Transport), and Margaret Ndung’u (Information, Communication and Digital Economy).
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi will be the first candidate to be vetted on Saturday, August 3, for the position of National Treasury and Economic Planning.
Former mining CS Salim Mvurya will follow as he seeks to be reassigned to the Investments, Trade and Industry docket.
Other nominees to be vetted on Saturday will be Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum), and finally Kipchumba Murkomen (Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports).

The last four nominees to be interviewed on Sunday will be Hassan Ali Joho (Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs), Alfred Mutua (Labour and Social Protection), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development), Justin Muturi (Public Service and Human Capital Development) and Stella Soi Lang’at (Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage).
“It is further notified that the nominees are required to appear for the approval hearings with their original identity cards, academic and professional certificates and approval other relevant testimonials,” the Clerk of National Assembly stated.
The nominees are also expected to obtain letters/certificates of compliance from; the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board, Office of the Registrar Political Parties, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Kenya Revenue Authority, Commission for University Education; and clearance from at least one Credit Reference Bureau.
