Pep Guardiola, the Man City manager, holds talks over dinner with the £167 million Liverpool target’s agent.

Pep Guardiola reportedly had dinner with Edmundo Kabchi, the agent of Liverpool target Ronald Araujo, according to SPORT.

Manchester City, according to the Spanish news outlet, are interested in signing the Barcelona defender, who Liverpool also admires.

Guardiola met with his agent for a meal, which has fueled speculation that he will join the Citizens.

It comes amid a contract dispute for Araujo, who earns €6 million (£5 million) a year and is one of Barcelona’s lowest-paid players.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing him, according to SPORT.

The 22-year-deal old’s with the Spanish giants expires in June 2023, and he has already turned down one new contract offer because it did not fit his requirements.

Araujo, who has a £167 million release clause in his current contract, has been a star performer for Barcelona thus far this season.

The South American has scored two goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Guardiola has a lot of ties to Barcelona, having progressed through the youth ranks at the Camp Nou to make 384 first-team appearances.

Of course, the 51-year-old went on to become one of the club’s all-time great managers.

Barcelona will not want to lose Araujo, but if they are unable to reach an agreement with the defender, it is likely that Guardiola will be able to outbid Liverpool for his services.

Klopp is a charismatic, contagious figure who must be difficult to resist when he approaches things with such zeal.

After all, Virgil van Dijk only needed one trip to Blackpool to convince him to select Liverpool over Manchester City (Independent).

Keep an eye on this story because Araujo could be playing in the Premier League very soon if contract negotiations continue to be difficult.
