In a statement on Wednesday night, November 20, NPS spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango disclosed that it has not received any communication regarding the holding of the demonstrations as required by the law.
According to Onyango, the law stipulates that the organisers of such should notify the police three days prior for police to ensure proper measures are in place.
“In exercising this right, the law places a responsibility on organizers to notify the Regulating Officer (Officer Commanding Station) in writing at least three days, but no more than fourteen days, in advance, specifying the details of the planned meeting.

“This requirement is intended to ensure that proper safety and security measures are put in place by the police during public demonstrations,” Onyango remarked.
The NPS spokesperson thus urged Kenyans to continue with their daily duties without any fear assuring them of safety.
“Therefore, law-abiding citizens are urged to go on with their daily activities without fear even as the NPS reiterates its commitment to serve and protect all persons in the country,” Onyango explained.
Her remarks come after banners circulated on social media regarding planned protests on Thursday, November 21, a day President William Ruto is expected to deliver his State of the Nation Address in Parliament.
Some of the banners read, “Occupy all roads to leading to Parliament. The final revolution.”
