President Ruto laments over endless nicknames Kenyans give him

President William Ruto on Thursday, March 13 lamented over the endless nicknames Kenyans have given him
President William Ruto on Thursday, March 13 lamented over the endless nicknames Kenyans have given him.
Speaking while opening the Lang’ata Technical and Vocational College in Nairobi, the President questioned how many more monikers he would be branded by Kenyans.
“Mlianza huko mkasema hustler, alafu mkasema hustler tena, mkahamia kwa Zakayo, sasa nasikia mmefika Kasongo. Hizi majina mtaongeza mpaka ngapi? Bado mna mpango wa kuongeza nyingine ama hiyo imetosha? Mnataka haya majina yangu yafike ngapi”, hadi kumi?” Ruto wondered.
This comes after Kenyans online nicknamed President Ruto ‘El Chapo’ following his pledge to purchase a chapati-making machine that could produce a million chapatis daily to boost Nairobi city’s ‘Dishi Na County’ school feeding program.
The Head of State issued the promise on Tuesday after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja sought help from him to purchase the machine.

“The governor has asked me that in order to add chapati to Nairobi’s dish, I should buy a chapati-making machine. I have agreed to buy the machine for him. Now, Governor, find a place to buy a chapati-making machine that makes one million chapatis,” said President Ruto.
The pledge by the President elicited mixed reactions online with netizens creating memes over the chapati-making machine.
Some users created Artificial Intelligence (AI) images and videos to exaggerate how a million chapatis would look like.
The El Chapo nickname is a play on both the street name for chapati (Chapo) and the infamous Mexican drug lord.
