Raila under pressure from Nyanza Professionals led by former Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero to step down from active politics.

A group calling itself Nyanza professionals now claims that President William Ruto has the Nyanza region at heart.

This comes after the president’s recent selections to the cabinet and the Principal Secretaries’ positions.

Eliud Owalo of Siaya County, a former ally of Raila Odinga, was appointed Cabinet Secretary for ICT.

Dr. Raymond Omollo, a native of Homa Bay County, has been named the State Department’s Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration.

President Ruto also appointed Alfred K’Ombundo from Kisumu County as the PS for trade and Joseph Mutari from Migori County as the PS for State Department for Social Protection.

In an address to the press, the professionals who included mostly former elected leaders said the President’s move was a show of his desire to work with the region.

“By these appointments, the President has demonstrated that Homa Bay County is close to his heart,” read the statement.

They are certain that the promises the Head of State made would be fulfilled and that the growth of the counties will be visible in the new government.

The leaders, led by former Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero as urged former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga to step down from active politics and support young politicians.

President Ruto made a pledge to complete the Homa Bay Water and Sewage System project together with the construction of the 5, 000 affordable housing.

He also pledged to complete the Kabok Junction and Adiedo road construction among many other projects.
