Raphael Tuju Appointed Executive Director of Azimio La Umoja Secretariat
Azimio La Umoja Secretariat; Former Jubilee party secretary General Raphael Tuju appointed the executive director of the Azimio la Umoja secretariat.
On Wednesday, April 6, ODM leader Raila Odinga named Tuju as the Azimio La Umoja executive director.
According to Denis Onyango, Raila’s secretariat Communications Director, Tuju will take over the post immediately.
Tuju will also be in charge of coordinating all Azimio member parties and leading the coalition’s strategic and program teams in the run-up to the August 9 elections.
“As Executive Director, Tuju will coordinate all member parties of Azimio and will lead the strategic and programme teams that will work to ensure Azimio’s victory in the August elections,” said Onyango.
He added Tuju was considered on the grounds of being an accomplished communication specialist and has experience in the management of public affairs.
“A communication specialist by training, Tuju has decades of experience in politics and government, having served as a member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister and Jubilee Party Secretary-General,” he added.
On February 26, Tuju publicly resigned from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet as well as his role as secretary-general of the ruling Jubilee Party.
He stated that he was leaving to pursue “other political interests.”
