The Community Development Agreement Committee (CDAC) was formed in the mid-2010s to manage at least 1% of the Base Titanium’s gross sales on behalf of the communities affected by mining activities.
In Kilifi, there are three CDACs including in Msambweni, Lungalunga, and Likoni.
According to the Mining Act of 2016, the CDAC account should consist of State, Community, and Non-State actors.
The roles were divided into the national and county government administration, political leadership, women, youth, and persons with disabilities as well as the mining license holders.
The members are therefore tasked with ensuring maximum, inclusive, and sustainable socio-economic benefits accruing from the mining operations of Base Titanium Limited.
Mishi Mboko is an ODM MP serving her second term in Parliament for Likoni constituency.
