Ruto is in panic mode and has started campaigning early – MP Robert Mbui

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has hit out at President William Ruto accusing him of abandoning his duties and engaging in early campaigns.
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has hit out at President William Ruto accusing him of abandoning his duties and engaging in early campaigns.
Speaking on Tuesday, May 6, Mbui questioned Ruto’s recent actions, suggesting that the president’s conduct is more aligned with political survival than governance.
“There is a lot of noise coming from President Ruto. I don’t know whether it’s the many advisors who have confused him, because he has gone into campaign mode and it’s two years to the elections.
“I think he is in panic mode, having realized that things are not as smooth as they once were. Some of the comments he is making are really irritating the public,” he said.
Mbui’s remarks come barely a day after Ruto dismissed growing calls from sections of the public and opposition leaders demanding his resignation.
Speaking in Migori on Monday, May 5, he challenged his critics to offer tangible policy alternatives rather than relying on protest slogans.
Ruto said that those chanting “Ruto Must Go” were not offering any constructive solutions or development plans for the country.
“I want to tell those people chanting ‘must go’, before you say ‘Ruto Must Go,’ first come up with policies for the people. The citizens want to know.
We have plans to build roads; what have you planned? We are connecting electricity, we have affordable housing, and we are building markets too.
“What are your plans? ‘Must go’ is not enough, and it’s not a policy.
Organize yourselves properly, otherwise we will dismantle you early and in broad daylight,” he said.

Earlier Monday, Ruto had also addressed criticism over the appointment of John Mbadi as the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury and Opiyo Wandayi as the CS for Energy and Petroleum.
He noted that critics are displeased with his choices since both Mbadi and Wandayi were part of the opposition and did not support his presidential bid.
However, Ruto defended the appointments, emphasizing that leadership should transcend political affiliations and serve all citizens equally.
“Some people are angry with me, asking why I appointed John Mbadi as the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury and Opiyo Wandayi as the CS for Energy and Petroleum, yet they never voted for me.
“My response is simple; the government of Kenya belongs to all Kenyans, both those who voted and those who didn’t,” he said.
