Ruto’s coalition sets a mega rally in Sagana staduim after Uhuru’s Sagana ‘bombshell’
Ruto’s coalition Kenya Kwanza has rescheduled a mega rally in Sagana stadium, Nyeri on Saturday after Uhuru’s Sagana ‘bombshell’
Nearly a week after pitching a tent in Nyeri, Deputy President William Ruto will return for a massive rally on Saturday.
Ruto’s return will come two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with the Mt Kenya region at Sagana State Lodge and rooted for Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
Ruto’s coalition rally to take place on Saturday was confirmed by his digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.
“The Hustler Nation will be in Nyeri on Saturday, February 26, 2022, Sagana four will be in a tent. Hustler Nation will be in a Stadium,” Itumbi tweeted.
The decision to stage a rally two days after Uhuru’s meeting is a calculated move to dilute the achievements earned by the Head of State at the Sagana III gathering.
Given that many of Ruto’s allies have previously claimed that the region is behind the DP, the endorsement of Raila for the presidency is expected to be one of the primary topics of discussion in the area.
The protest is said to be in response to Uhuru’s demand for the region to rally behind Raila, who has been the region’s primary opponent in the last three presidential elections.
The ruling Jubilee and ODM parties will hold their National Delegates Conference on the same Saturday.
The two NDCs will hold a joint gathering where ODM leader Raila Odinga would be endorsed as the presidential candidate of Azimio La Umoja.
