Sadio-Mo Salah conversation at AFCON revealed as Klopp sent them a warning

Sadio-Mo Salah conversation at the AFCON final has been revealed with Liverpool boss, Klopp, sending them a warning.

After scoring the game-winning penalty in the AFCON final between Senegal and Egypt, Liverpool star Sadio Mane made sure to console his teammate Mohamed Salah.

Sadio Mane reminded Mohamed Salah, a Liverpool teammate, that losing in the Africa Cup of Nations final did not diminish his status in the game.

Senegal defeated Egypt on penalties in the final on Sunday night, ending their long wait for the continent’s top award.

It was always going to be a fight between the two Liverpool strikers, who were each trying to inspire their respective countries in Cameroon.

And it was Mane, who was often overshadowed by his teammate, who concluded the night with a bang, converting the game-winning penalty in the shootout after the two teams were knotted at 0-0 following 120 minutes.

Mane came back from missing a penalty kick in the seventh minute of normal time to ignite wild celebrations in the stadium and throughout Dakar.

He took care to soothe Salah, who was unable to disguise his agony and was openly crying on the pitch shortly after his crowning moment.

The 29-year-old clarified his statements to his teammate, telling him that he will have many more opportunities to collect trophies in the future.

“I told him that he remains a very great player and it’s a pleasure to play for the same club,” Mane said to beIN SPORTS via Metro.

“I have so much respect for him and he gave everything for his country.

“Unfortunately, he didn’t win, but that doesn’t mean it’s over for him.

“I also told him that he still has many things to win, including the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. They have a young team so maybe they will win it one day.”

Sadio-Mo Salah will be back at Anfield with Liverpool set encounter with Leicester City on Thursday.

Jurgen Klopp, speaking before the final, stated that whoever won would be a long shot to face the Foxes.

Klopp’s warning to Sadio-Mo Salah

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s returning African Cup of Nations heroes, may have to compete for their places in the starting XI.

That’s because Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that he will not pick favorites when choosing starting lineups.

After welcoming Harvey Elliott back from injury in the 3-1 FA Cup win against Cardiff, Klopp now has an incredible degree of depth in his forward line. New acquisition Luis Diaz also made his debut for the club.

Klopp has issued a warning to his two returning stars as a result of this.

Klopp said: “These boys, over the last few years, did an absolutely incredible job without competition in different positions; they stretched their limits, it’s absolutely unbelievable the development they had.

“That means now that the boys have to deal with competition, that’s the job they have to do.
