Secret dossiers help Man Utd pick new boss from Ten Hag, Pochettino and Tuchel

Secret dossiers helped Manchester United find their first choice managerial candidate from Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.

Man United settled on the preferred pick for their new boss by compiling secret dossiers over several weeks on Erik Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.

The trio of top coaches have been most heavily linked with the Old Trafford vacancy ahead of Ralf Rangnick’s summer handover.

And it was claimed last week that Ajax boss Ten Hag had emerged as the No.1 pick ahead of PSG’s Pochettino and Chelsea’s Tuchel.

Now it’s been revealed that the Red Devils reached that decision by completing extensive research on all of their possible targets.

As per The Sun, the club spent weeks putting the dossiers together as they carried out full background checks.

Ten Hag and Pochettino had been neck-and-neck in the eyes of the United hierarchy, while Tuchel joined the discussion following the recent crisis Chelsea have been plunged into.

Despite being the more inexperienced option, the Dutchman is seen as the best suited option to restore them to their glory days.

They believe he can be their manager for at least the next five years and want to wrap up a deal soon so he can be announced before the end of the season.

Compensation will need to be arranged with Ajax as they have him tied down until 2023.

It’s also hoped the appointment of Ten Hag, 52, will give them a boost in the summer transfer market. Not only may he help attract new signings, but he might also help to convince current stars to stay put.

Many United players have been linked to the exit door amid multiple reports of severe unrest amongst the squad. Perhaps most concerning is the uncertain future of Cristiano Ronaldo, as his departure could leave them with an attacking crisis.

As much as Tuchel is a world-class option, Ten Hag is preferred as it is feared the situation at Chelsea could rumble on over the summer, which would leave United in no man’s land with their hunt.

Although a verdict appears to have been reached on that front, uncertainty remains around Rangnick’s role going forward.

He is expected to move into the boardroom at the end of the season, but exactly what that will involve hasn’t yet been decided.
