KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) candidate dies after collapsing in Machakos after Tuesday’s exam paper.
According to reports, the 21-year-old student at a local school within Yatta Sub County died on his way home after sitting the papers on Tuesday.
Yatta sub-county police commander Jane Makau confirmed the incident adding that it happened at Kiumoni village, Yatta subcounty.
“He collapsed on his way home from school on Tuesday,” Makau told the Star by phone on Wednesday.
The KCSE candidate is said to have died on the spot after he collapsed.
Other sources revealed that the deceased was a few metres from his parent’s home at the Kinyaata sub-location in the Kinyaata location within Ikombe division when he died.
“The KCSE candidate is the only student from the school who uses the route. So, he had to walk home alone,” a source said.
The body was removed to Mbaku Funeral Home in Matuu town awaiting an autopsy.
Police have launched a probe into the incident.
