Ten Hag reveals Man Utd transfer plans for January

Ten Hag reveals Man Utd transfer plans for January with Ajax attacker and Leicester star on club’s shortlist.

Despite a late flurry of activity in the summer transfer which saw the arrival of Casemiro, United are still eyeing up a new central midfielder, having unsuccessfully pursued Barcelona and Netherlands star, Frenkie de Jong.

According to Erik ten Hag, Manchester United will keep having discussions about bolstering the roster in January and the following summer.

After a discouraging start to life in the Premier League with losses to Brentford and Brighton, United has recovered with five wins in their past six games.

Ten Hag is expected to attend meetings to talk about transfer strategies for the following year during the international break in September.

“Always to use such breaks [is] useful,” Ten Hag told MUTV. “We have many meetings, we have to improve the structures in and around the club, we will do.

“We will also look to the window in January or next summer already but also to improve our way of playing by making plans and, of course, this coming period with every third day a game we have to get ready for that.

“The players: 90% is away, the others will train properly and for the rest, we have to prepare very well and I hope everyone stays fit, return, healthy back and we have to go in and attack.”

Manchester United further wants to strengthen their squad in January with three more signings eyed, starting with Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, according to a report.

According to a report coming from Spain, Ten Hag is still looking for further midfield reinforcements. And the player who is labeled as the ‘chosen one’ in that position is Leicester star Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian is out of contract in June 2023 and was seemingly available for transfer in the summer just gone. And despite links with Arsenal and Newcastle, Tielemans, surprisingly, ended up staying with Leicester.

United are also very much back on the trail of young Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.

The Dutchman was linked with United over the summer with those rumours growing in recent weeks amid a huge admission about United from Brobbey himself.

Any deal for the striker is likely to set United back around £50m. While he’s still relatively raw, the 20-year-old does boast 10 goals in 21 appearances for Ajax over two spells.
