Tottenham contact Manchester United player Jesse Lingard over summer free transfer
Jesse Lingard is set to leave Man United and Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with the player over a free summer move.
After his contract expires, the 29-year-old is set to quit the club and might join Antonio Conte’s side for the start of next season.
According to football. london, Spurs have reached Lingard’s representation regarding a possible move to north London.
According to the source, the club is looking into the possibility of signing him in the January transfer window.
Despite his dissatisfaction with his lack of playing time this season, talkSPORT’s Jim White claimed that he will not depart until the summer, when he becomes a free agent.
“Our understanding this morning is that it won’t happen and he won’t go until the summer,” the host said.
“We are looking at 200-grand-a-week.”
The England international has battled for game time since returning to Old Trafford last summer, starting only twice and making only 13 outings in all competitions.
Despite Tottenham’s interest in Lingard, talkSPORT believes the Irons are looking to rekindle their interest in him.
Jesse Lingard had a breakout season in east London last season, scoring nine goals in 16 games to help the Hammers qualify for the Europa League.
David Moyes wanted to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer, but the club refused to pay the £40 million asking price demanded by Manchester United.
