Detectives bursts Al-Shabaab militants while on attack mission in Kenya

In recent months, the government of Kenya has stepped up security within towns along the Kenya-Somalia border in an effort to secure the country from Al-Shabaab militants.

On Sunday, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers ambushed a group of individuals who were caught assembling explosives at a camp in Garissa.

The three, who were caught at Alango area, were linked to Al Shabaab militia which has set base in the neighbouring Somalia.

The multi-agency team recovered the materials used to make IEDs as well as an AK47 riffle, 2 magazines, porches, and assorted foodstuffs.

The three suspects, however, escaped the officers’ dragnet, and a manhunt for their search was mounted. The three sustained injuries during the ambush.
