UDA deputy organizing secretary joins Azimio
UDA deputy organizing secretary has joined Raila’s led Azimio La Umoja movement after quitting Ruto’s UDA party.
The United Democratic Alliance party has suffered yet another setback as a major official (UDA deputy organizing secretary) resigned.
Wanjala Iyaya, the UDA’s deputy national organizational secretary, left the party on Wednesday and joined the DAP-K, which is associated with Azimio La Umoja.
DAP-K announced the move on Twitter, claiming that Iyaya was accompanied by TACUSO elders who reinforced their support for Azimio La Umoja.
Iyaya is eyeing the parliamentary seat in Webuye East.
He was welcomed by party officials including Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, Lugari MP Ayub Savula and other party officials.
His departure is a setback for UDA, which recently lost its treasurer Omingo Magara to the Azmio side.
Magara said on Tuesday that his political ambitions do not fit with the UDA party, prompting his decision to resign.
He joined the ruling Jubilee party, which is affiliated with the Azimio la Umoja.
The Democratic Alliance for Progress-Kenya (DAP-K) is a splinter organization of the Moses Wetangula-led Ford Kenya party.
The party is vying for control of Western Kenya with Ford Kenya and the African National Congress (ANC).
