Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani gives Raila Odinga a seven-day ultimatum to issue an apology for linking her to a love affair with Mining CS Salim Mvurya.
Her demand comes after on Wednesday, January 24 during an ODM delegates meeting in Kwale, Raila alleged that Governor Achani was having an affair with Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya.
“The rumours I am hearing, you know I have two ears. So this side I am hearing that I have gone too much on mama’s side, and you know she is the wife of *** [sic],” Raila claimed.
Kwale Director of Communication and Government Spokesperson Nick Gitonga in a statement on Friday January 26 said Raila and the ODM party will face legal action if he does not withdraw the remarks and ask for an apology.

“The statement by Raila Odinga, specifically the phrase “huyo ni bibi ya Mvurya.” is deemed defamatory. The people of Kwale County demand a formal apology within the next 7 days. Failure to comply will result in legal action against ODM as a party and Raila Odinga as an individual,” read the statement in part.
Gitonga noted that the ODM leader’s remarks are regrettable and deeming to Governor Achani who is a married woman and a devoted Muslim.
“Sexual and Gender-based violence (GBV) is one of the most obstinate violations of human rights across the globe. These demeaning and uncalled-for remarks are not only disrespectful to Governor Achani but also undermine the progress made in bridging the third-gender rule gap in the country. Governor Achani, a married woman and devoted Muslim, deserves respect for her leadership role in Kwale County,” he added.
