UDA insider reveals how Gachagua is being denied government privileges

MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now says DP Gachagua is being denied privileges by the government amid impeachment plans

MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now says DP Gachagua is being denied privileges by the government amid impeachment plans.

Githunguri MP and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) loyalist Gathoni Wamuchomba on Monday strongly asserted that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has begun bearing the brunt of falling out with the ruling regime.

While appearing as a panelist on Citizen TV, Wamuchomba noted that on Sunday while heading to a church service, it was apparent that some of the privileges the DP is entitled to were taken away.

The lawmaker, who has been Gachagua’s fiery defender, noted that the DP was entitled to a security team and a convoy even when going to church, some of which were missing.

“For example yesterday, we went with the DP to church. The DP is supposed to be given his privileges. He is supposed to be given an escort when he is going to church, he is going to be given security, and all his privileges. Can someone tell us yesterday if the deputy president got his privileges as a DP of Kenya?” she questioned.

“I was with him the whole day and he did not receive all his privileges. He did not.”

“Who is this person whose job is to remove all these privileges from the DP’s office? Who is this person whose business is to remove the DP from the diary of the executive President?” Wamuchomba added.

The lawmaker, as a result, called on President William Ruto to appear on television and keep his word of protecting his deputy from the torment that he underwent during his (Ruto’s) tenure as the DP.

She noted that the Head of State was elected by Kenyans, including Mt Kenya residents, who she argued deserved an explanation from the Head of State.

Further, Wamuchomba indicated that the beck and call of Gachagua’s impeachment laid on the Head of State who she argued should step forward and make public his stance.

“I personally feel the president himself must give a nod to impeach Rigathi Gachagua and what we want from the President is nothing else, not on top of the roof car promise, not a presser to tell there is no impeachment, we want him to appear on this television (Citizen TV) and any other television station saying he is going to fight for his deputy president as he promised during our Kasarani nomination,” the lawmaker posed.

“I was there when we nominated his excellency the President as our candidate in UDA to vie as a president and he promised in front of cameras and he said he was tormented, faced a lot of tribulations when he was the DP and he said never again will the deputy president of Kenya go through what he went through.”

Yesterday, Wamuchomba indicated that plans to impeach the DP were in high gear and scheduled to be tabled in Parliament next week.

Further, ousted UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala revealed that Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and his Homa Bay Town counterpart Peter Kaluma had been tapped to spearhead the impeachment.

Gachagua, however, cautioned President William Ruto that should he let the impeachment proceed as planned, his supporters would be very unforgiving.

“I would like to ask my boss President William Ruto to be cautious and do the right thing and let’s keep our house together. Let us not be disruptive and let us not re-introduce the politics of betrayal,” he cautioned.

“Our people hate betrayal and they are very unforgiving if you betray them. I ask my brother not to be tempted to go in that direction because these people will be very unforgiving.”
