Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta paid a courtesy call on German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace in Berlin.

In photos shared on Monday, February 17, the former head of state was warmly received at the German presidential residence, where the two leaders engaged in cordial discussions. 

Accompanying Kenyatta during the visit was Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany, Stella Mokaya Orina, who also serves as Kenya’s envoy to Poland and the Czech Republic.

“His Excellency President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta today paid a courtesy call on German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace in Berlin, Germany. During the visit, the former head of state was accompanied by Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany, Stella Mokaya Orina, who also serves as the envoy to Poland and the Czech Republic,” a statement from the Office of the Fourth President of Kenya read.

However, details of the discussions were not disclosed by the Office of the 4th President.

The meeting came about two months after he hosted senior Western diplomats at his Gatundu home.

On December 11, 2024, Uhuru met separately with Marc Dillard, the new Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kenya and Neil Wigan, the UK High Commissioner to Kenya. 

Their discussions centered around the Nairobi Peace Process and broader regional peace initiatives, underscoring Uhuru’s influence in fostering stability in East Africa.

Prior to this meeting, Uhuru had on December 9, 2024, met with President William Ruto at his Gatundu home.
