Double tragedy as Malava MP and his brother die hours apart

Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi, who died Monday at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, had lost his elder brother Samuel Injendi just a day before.

Samuel died while undergoing treatment at the Kakamega County General Hospital on February 16.

It’s now double tragedy for their kin who are coming to terms with burying two of their sons.

The MP’s death occurred just as the family was organising a fundraiser to foot his elder brother’s hospital bill. Samuel’s burial plans were yet to commence.

The Harambee was scheduled to take place on Wednesday February 19, ahead of his burial on Saturday.

Samuel, 80, was a retired prisons officer and had been ailing for some time.

Chemuche ward representative Geoffrey Sikolia said the activities which had been lined up for his funeral will proceed as earlier planned even as the family mourns the loss of his MP brother.

He described the Malava MP as a dedicated leader and a dear friend, brother, and clansman.

“His contributions and service will always be remembered.”

Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang paid tribute to Malulu’s service and faith, acknowledging his life as one dedicated to the glory of God and the welfare of others.

He said: “We give thanks for a life so well lived to God’s glory and in service to others. Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints. May the Lord comfort his family, friends, and the people he served with such devotion. Rest in peace, Malulu Injendi.”

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe described Malulu as a selfless and visionary leader who devoted his life to uplifting Malava Constituency.

“Mr Malulu embodied unwavering dedication and selflessness, devoting his life to uplifting Malava Constituency with humility and visionary purpose.

“During this time of profound loss, my deepest condolences extend to his family, friends, and the entire Malava fraternity. May you find comfort in his enduring legacy and strength in the memories of his transformative service. Brother Malulu Injendi, your impact will forever resonate. Rest in eternal peace,” penned Mr Mugabe.
