Tensions escalated in Nakuru Town on Tuesday afternoon after police officers stormed a church to flush out protestors.
In the incident, the officers were captured by the church’s CCTV cameras making their way into the building and conducting a search for the protestors who were stated to be seeking refuge in the church.
The CCTV footage depicted worshippers who were on the church podium lying on the floor in fear of being clobbered by the officers.
According to the church’s management, the congregants had just completed their lunch hour service when one of the reverends was conducting a prayer for a member.
The bishop at the church who came out to condemn the act stated that the officers opened fire at the protestors with live bullets.
“Why shoot live bullets and beat people in our Church, we had our normal lunch hour service. Rev Patriciah Benson was praying for members. As the Bishop of Chosen Generation Church I condemn this act of excessive use of force by the police,” stated the Bishop.

However, no injuries or casualties were reported from the afternoon incident.
This came as Kenyans continued to stage demonstrations across the country on Tuesday with heavy police presence being reported in most of the areas.
Within Nairobi, police lobbed teargas to disperse demonstrators who made it explicitly clear about their discontentment with the State of the Nation.
In Baringo, demonstrators stormed Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi’s office in Kabarnet town and demanded an audience with him.
The protesters marched through the road leading to the governor’s office as they chanted the governor’s name expressing disillusionment with his governance.
