A new twist has emerged after police located a woman alleged to have been kidnapped in Kitisuru area by unknown people who reportedly promised her a job opportunity.

In a statement on Saturday, November 16, the National Police Service (NPS) disclosed that the woman, Mercy Awuor, was reported kidnapped by her husband, Brian Andore, at Kitisuru Police Station on November 9.

Following the report, detectives from the DCI’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) embarked on the search of Awuor.

On November 13, the detectives arrested one suspect in Gitaru area whose phone number had been used to demand a Ksh150,000 ransom in the alleged kidnapping.

However, on November 16, police proceeded to the location where Awuor’s phone number was last located and found her with her husband, in this case George Odada.

“On November 16, 2024, the team proceeded to Oldonyo Orok, Narok South, where the victim’s number was lastly located, and found her at her husband’s house, one George Odada, together with her two children.

“A preliminary investigation has established that there was no kidnapping but rather love affairs, love triangle and family issues,” NPS explained.

The police service disclosed that the two have been escorted to Nairobi for further interrogation and processing, even as it warned against the offence of giving false information to a public officer.

“The National Police Service takes the opportunity to emphasize that it is an offence under Section 129 of the Penal Code for anybody to give false information to a public officer, in this case, police officers,” NPS stated.
