Former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa and former Nominated Senator Millicent Nyaboke Omanga have landed government jobs as President William Ruto makes key parastatals changes.
In a Gazette Notice dated January 17, 2025, Ruto appointed Jumwa as the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board.
Her tenure will run for a period of three years, effective immediately, according to the notice.
The appointment follows the revocation of Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed from the position.
Jumwa, a seasoned public servant, is expected to steer the board in overseeing the development and maintenance of Kenya’s road infrastructure.
On the other hand, in a separate Gazette Notice, dated January 14, 2025, Omanga was re-appointed to the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyards Limited.
The appointment, made by Defence Cabinet Secretary Roselinda Soipan Tuya, also spans three years.
Notably, Omanga’s re-appointment comes about two months after she declined President William Ruto’s appointment to the Nairobi Rivers Commission.

In a statement on X on October 26, 2024, Omanga declined the appointment due to personal reasons.
However, she noted that she supports efforts to restore rivers in Nairobi.
“I’m deeply honored and grateful to William Tuto for the trust you’ve shown in appointing me to serve on the Nairobi Rivers Commission. It’s truly a privilege to be considered for such a vital role in improving our beloved Nairobi’s environment and public health.
“After careful consideration, I must respectfully decline the appointment due to personal reasons. I remain committed to supporting efforts aimed at restoring Nairobi’s rivers & stand ready to contribute in any capacity that aligns with my current commitments. Thank you once again for this honor and for the consideration,” she said.
