Azimio unveiling Nairobi governor seat candidate on Thursday – Tim Wanyonyi Reveals

Azimio unveiling Nairobi governor seat candidate on Thursday, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has revealed.

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance will reveal its Nairobi governor seat flagbearer on Thursday, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has said.

Negotiations on who will be the best candidate for governor are still on, according to the MP, who is also wanting the governorship.

The MP’s revelations come after reports reached out that he had been summoned to State House on Tuesday morning on talks regarding the governor seat race.

Wanyonyi denied last week that he was persuaded to drop out of the campaign after meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He also dismissed accusations that he will be pushed out of any Azimio political scenario since Raila cannot be endorsed for the presidency and run for Nairobi governor at the same time.

“The coalition I belong to is in consultation and will be issuing a statement on Nairobi this Thursday. The decision of the coalition will be an addition or subtraction to my ambitions,” Wanyonyi said

During a news conference on Tuesday, the legislator reassured his followers that he is still running for the seat and is hopeful of winning.

“Leadership is a calling and from the beginning, I always say ‘si mimi ni sisi’. I am still on the race.”

Wanyonyi has served Nairobi for the past 15 years, first as a nominated councilor from 2007 to 2013 and then as the MP for Westlands Constituency since 2013.

Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu, businesswoman Agnes Kagure, and former Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Richard Ngatia are among the Azimio members seeking the governorship ticket.
