A female student from a training institute in Thika tragically lost her life on Saturday night after she threw herself from the third floor of an apartment she was living in.
According to reports, the student was reported to have jumped from the third floor of the building following an altercation she had with her boyfriend.
At the time of the incident, the two were living as a couple in the rented apartment located at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) gate C area of Juja town.
Neighbours who heard a commotion from the altercation rushed to the scene only to find the student already lying on the ground with serious injuries.
Reports from some of the neighbours indicated that the student got angry following a message that her boyfriend had been allegedly sent by another lady.
Upon confirmation, they found out that the female student had succumbed to the injuries sustained at the time of the fall, leaving them with many unanswered questions.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations based at the Juja Police Station moved to the scene as they embarked on investigations into the chilly incident.
Earlier, reports circulating on social media suggested that the student was from JKUAT.
However, a source from the university’s security team said that the student was not affiliated with the institution.
”There is no record of our student who died. However, I would like to report to you that a similar incident occurred in the area outside the university and the matter is currently before the Juja Police team,” the source intimated.

The area around JKUAT has been associated with multiple suicide cases in the past, including a similar incident on Saturday, March 30 last year, when a first-year student died by suicide.
According to reports, the student who was undertaking a course in Computer Science jumped from the fourth floor of a five-floor hostel building.
Some of his former classmates revealed that the deceased had applied for a scholarship at a university in the US. He had also applied for a visa as he awaited a response from the institution.
However, he received a rejection letter which pushed him to the edge leading to him contemplating suicide. The deceased reached out to his father who calmed him down and encouraged him.
In January 2022 another 20-year-old student from Kirinyaga University, died on Tuesday, January 18, after falling from the third floor of an apartment in the Juja area of Kiambu County.
