Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi claims DP Gachagua entered 2022 deal without a written agreement

Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has revealed startling details about an agreement made by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the 2022 general election.

According to Wamumbi, Gachagua entered into a crucial deal without a written agreement, relying solely on trust.

Speaking on the matter on Inooro TV, Wamumbi recounted a confidential conversation with Gachagua that went on for hours.

“I was the only person he met that day; we talked for hours, and I tried to tell him that his advisers were misleading him, just as they had misled another president,” Wamumbi disclosed.

MP Wamumbi expressed his concerns about Gachagua’s leadership decisions, particularly concerning the Gikuyu community.

“I told him that he had told the Gikuyu people that he never slept and was always watching out for them, but he was now leading them down the wrong path,” the Mathira MP claimed.

Wamumbi claimed that Gachagua was not willing to formalize his political pact with President William Ruto because he trusted him.

“Gachagua told me he was not going to have a written agreement with President Ruto because he trusted him,” Wamumbi stated.

Wamumbi also highlighted Gachagua’s strategic plans following their election victory in the August general election.

“He told us that after we won the election, he would then go to the President with a list of seats that would benefit the Central Kenya people,” he said.

He stated that the deputy president was aiming to secure nine key positions that he believed would be advantageous for the GEMA community.

However, Wamumbi urged a different approach. “I begged him that we stay in government since we already have enough seats; we should work using what we have,” he added.

Despite their disagreements, Wamumbi acknowledged Gachagua’s significant impact on his life.

“He has helped me a lot in my life, but that does not mean I do not have opinions on our country’s leadership,” he remarked.

The tell-it-all interview with the Mathira Member of Parliament has exposed deep-seated political disagreement between him and Gachagua and the speculations of bad blood between the president and his deputy.
