A frustrated officer rants at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over what he terms as neglect in the National Police Service

A frustrated officer rants at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over what he terms as neglect in the National Police Service.

A police officer has laid bare the frustration that might be facing Kenyans working in the National Police Service.

The irate police blasted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in a video, accusing him of neglect.

The emotional officer starts off his emotional tirade by expressing to the DP his living conditions, revealing his force number and where he’s sleeping.

The cop boldly stated that he was not afraid of the repercussions of his conduct and pointed the finger squarely at Gachagua for his problems.

“Gachagua, Deputy President, this is for you. I’m a senior driver. Since 2008, I’ve been a driver. But right now, I’m sleeping here on the ground! I don’t have a blanket, I don’t have anything. Sir Gachagua, when you talk, this is directly to you, and I’m not afraid. I am telling you this, when you promised the force 100 days, you failed us as police officers. And I’m not afraid,” he said.

The officer revealed that he had been in the service for over ten years, but he had nothing to show for it since he lacked an influential individual to smoothen his path.

“It hurts; I have been trained as a police officer for the last 12 good years as a driver. Driver from Isiolo, Steve Barongo, I have chauffered Joseph Kanyiri, a very senior officer in the government but for me I have not even been promoted to even a corporal. Do you think it’s worth it? Frustrating! Because I don’t have someone from Karatina who can support me and help me get a promotion or the next rank, I’m just useless, regardless of being a senior police officer; a driver for 14 good years in this force. Do you think that is worth it?” he posed while quivering in his voice.

The unidentified police officer further stated he didn’t need help, appealing on behalf of his wife to be considered.

The police officer revealed that he had survived for years without a salary and that his wife had been his saving life raft.

“I don’t vote, and I will never vote, but don’t help me. In my family, if you can help, just help my wife. My wife was there for me, she has been there for me, and she will always be there for me. She’s called Ann Wanjiru Mbugua. Just a mere high school teacher. But Gachagua, you should understand, I don’t have a salary; my wife has supported me for the last seven years. I’ve overcommitted myself,” he added.
