Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary, Alfred Mutua has announced that the recruitment process for Kenyans seeking employment in Qatar is nearing completion, with departure dates set to be confirmed soon.
In an update shared on Friday, November 29, 2024, via his X account, Mutua revealed that the documentation and contracts for candidates who successfully secured jobs have been finalized. He also shared a list of the qualified candidates.
“The processing of documents and contracts for candidates hired during the Qatar recruitment drive is progressing well, and departures are approaching,” he said.
However, 72 of the prospective employees in the Gulf nation did not submit their contact details.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua published their identities, asking them to avail themselves at the Nairobi-based Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Monday, December 2, to sign their offer letters ahead of their travel arrangements.
To prepare for their transition, the CS confirmed that pre-departure training for those who have already signed their offer letters will take place on Saturday, November 30, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. The session will begin at 8 am, and all relevant candidates have been notified.
“For candidates who have not signed their offer letters. They should visit the notified location on Monday, December 2, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Their training will be scheduled after they complete the signing and medical processes,” Mutua stated.
He further reassured those awaiting communication, noting that their offer letters are still under processing in Qatar and they will be contacted once ready. Mutua urged anyone whose name appears on the attached list but has not yet signed their job offer letter to visit KICC on Monday to complete the necessary formalities.
This announcement follows the CS’s earlier statement on November 27, 2024, where he disclosed that 5,931 Kenyans had secured job opportunities abroad through a government-led recruitment exercise. Mutua noted that the initiative launched days ago, aims to connect skilled Kenyans with overseas employment opportunities.

“I am pleased to announce that 5,931 Kenyans have secured job opportunities abroad since the launch of the government’s national recruitment exercise just ten days ago. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to linking skilled Kenyans with overseas employment opportunities as we address the pressing issue of unemployment in our country,” he announced.
The Cabinet Secretary announced that the ongoing recruitment process will temporarily pause to allow preparations for the Jamhuri Day celebrations. During this break, the government will work on providing passports and certificates of good conduct to the 5,931 successful candidates.
“The recruitment drive will take a brief pause to accommodate preparations for the upcoming Jamhuri Day celebrations. During this pause, we will focus on processing the 5,931 job offers by facilitating the issuance of passports and certificates of good conduct for successful applicants,” he stated.
Adding;
“I want to assure all successful applicants that they will be contacted by Wednesday next week, and a new schedule for the exercise will be announced after Jamhuri Day.”
