Guardiola protects Jack Grealish from criticism

Guardiola has protected Jack Grealish from critisms and and has high hopes for his £100million Man City career.

Despite recent criticism, Jack Grealish’s manager’s words of support suggest a route to progress.

Jack Grealish’s Manchester City performances have been scrutinized since his British record arrival in August.

The Premier League winners have only three goals and as many assists in 23 appearances across all competitions, according to critics.

However, there are a couple of elements to consider while assessing Grealish’s time under Pep Guardiola thus far.

It hasn’t even been a season yet, and numerous members of the present squad have only recently found their feet after spending a year or more at the club.

Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Joao Cancelo, and Rodri are just a few instances.

Guardiola jumped to the defense of his most expensive signing after the 1-1 draw with Southampton.

“By far the best game he has played since joining us,” he stated. “This was a very outstanding performance.”

The City is Ours regular duo of Dom Farrell and Alex Brotherton reviewed the fallout from the draw at St Mary’s on Monday’s Facebook Live, especially Pep’s comments on Jack.

“Pep said he played really, really well and he thought he was exceptional. I think that’s something we’ve said about Grealish all along – he’s not playing this amount of games because of the price tag.

“There are examples of it all across the City squad where, regardless of reputation or fee, if you’re not doing what Guardiola wants then you won’t be in the side.”
