“I Wont Attend Kibaki’s Funeral, He Abandoned Me At Our Of Need,” Former Nyeri MP Discloses

Wanyiri Kihoro, a former Nyeri Town MP, said he will not attend Mwai Kibaki’s funeral because he was also barred from attending the funeral of his wife.
Kihoro and Kibaki had a long-running feud that had lasted more than 20 years and was still unsolved when Kibaki died.
Wanyiri Kihoro alleges that Kibaki failed to acknowledge his Sh16 million contribution to his presidential campaign in 2002.

“I contributed Sh16 million towards his 2002 campaigns, which money we delivered to him in a plastic bag at the Democratic Party Finance House offices in Nairobi in the company of my wife, Wanjiru Kihoro, and Charity Ngilu” Kihoro told Bravo TV.
After attending former Vice President Moody Awori’s homecoming function in Busia on January 25, 2003, Wanyiri’s wife was involved in a helicopter disaster.
Wanjiru suffered serious injuries and spent nearly four years in a coma in the ICU before dying in 2006.
Kibaki, according to Kihoro, made no attempt to contact him after his wife died. They never met throughout his ten years as President or even when he retired ten years afterwards.
“I am the kind of a person who doesn’t say or follow things that I do not believe in because that would be like lying in the eyes of the public,” he said.
