IEBC to Hire 300,000 Temporary Staff Ahead of Aug Polls – the Commission’s Chair Wafula Chebukati has said.

Well before the August elections, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) plans to hire 300,000 temporary workers.

Chairman Wafula Chebukati, speaking at the Anglican Church of Kenya Bishops and Senior Clergy conference 2022, believes this will help the commission’s workforce during the national exercise.

Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit of the Anglican Church of Kenya has urged the IEBC to ensure that it is adequately prepared for the August 9 General Election and that results are tallied in a transparent manner at all levels.

Sapit stated that the polling agency must gain public trust in order to fulfill its responsibility of conducting a credible, free, and fair election.

The Prelate insisted that early preparations will allow the electoral agency to conduct peaceful elections and bring Kenyans together irrespective of the outcome.

Notably, IEBC is yet to announce the start of the recruitment process for the 300,000 vacancies it is looking to fill.

In March, the electoral agency was forced to speak out after a fake advert asked Kenyans to apply for non-existing jobs with the commission.
