Impromptu visits by Ruto CSs, a sign of a broken system of governance; Ahmednasir
Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi slams Ruto CSs for making impromptu visits to government offices to check on service delivery.
The move by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and his roads counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen to storm offices to address the backlog of key services is a sign of a broken system of governance, Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has said.
Ahmedasir described that as a sign of a government that is not able to serve the common Mwananchi.
“When you have two senior Cabinet Secretaries storming offices and workstations of clerks in their ministries and addressing mundane issues of driver’s licenses, logbooks, police clearance certificates, passports, etc…issues routinely handled by entry-level clerks in the ministries, then you sadly realize that the system is broken and Kenya is not delivering for the common man/woman,” noted Ahmednasir.
According to him, it is never the job of a minister to address what he called pressing but trivial issues of the common citizenry.
Ahmednasir said it is not the work of the ministers to make sure services are offered to the common man yet there are those in charge on the ground.
He said it is time the pressing but trivial issues of Wanjiku are addressed.
The lawyer noted that each government docket had a hierarchy through which crucial roles were undertaken.
According to Ahmednasir, the CS ought to be preoccupied with matters of national interest at the expense of monitoring their juniors.

“What time will the ministers have to address important issues like the bypasses that were completed without critical components and which officials and Chinese contractors “chewed” billions during the Uhuru Administration and the lawlessness,” the lawyer said.
In the recent past, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and his Roads and Transport colleague Kipchumba Murkomen have been visiting offices within their dockets for fast-tracking of Kenyans’ documents like passports and driving licenses.
Impatient applicants had decried delays in the printing and issuance of passports, same with those waiting for their driving licenses.
The above prompted Kindiki to visit Nyayo House to assess the situation, with Murkomen camping at the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to examine the cause of the delays in the processing of the passports and driving licenses.
