Detectives on Sunday afternoon arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier for defiling a 12-year-old minor in Langas, Uasin Gishu County.
According to the DCI, the 12-year-old, who was a Standard Seven pupil at the time, was on her way home that fatal evening.
The officer is from the Second Brigade and is stationed at 9KA.
“The minor told her mother that she arrived home late because she had been held hostage by a man who took advantage of her,” DCI reported.
The mother interrogated the daughter and that is when she noticed blood stains on her school uniform.
The mother filed for a report and Eldoret-based detectives employed digital and cyber forensics to trace the suspect who at the time had gone into hiding at Green Park estate.
The KDF soldier was arrested and placed behind bars at Langas Police Station.
“The two underwent medical tests at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital,” DCI tweeted.
After being positively identified by the victim, the suspect is currently being processed for arraignment in military parlance.
The Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit, according to DCI, is on high alert due to an upsurge in incidents of sexual offenses.
