Manchester United targeting centreback in transfer window
Manchester United targeting centreback in transfer window with Harry Maguire having endured a disastrous season.
Man United have now conceded the same number of Premier League goals as last season and are looking for a new center-back.
Manchester United plans to add another centre-back during the summer transfer window in order to shore up their shaky defense.
The Manchester Evening News reported that United held exploratory discussions with the representatives of Antonio Rudiger, out of contract in Chelsea at the summer, but there is little expectation of the Germany international joining them.
Sources close to the player are more focused on discussing potential contracts with clubs guaranteed of playing in the Champions League next season.
Although United are three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, their next three fixtures at Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Chelsea at home will be crucial.

Manchester United targeting centreback
United signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer and while the 28-year-old has excelled in the majority of his appearances, Varane has missed 15 matches through injury or illness.
United have already conceded 44 goals in the Premier League – as many as they shipped across 38 games last season – and they are in danger of surpassing the 2018-19 season tally of 54 goals against, the club’s worst top-flight defensive performance in 40 years.
Harry Maguire has had a horrible season and incoming manager Erik ten Hag may relieve him of his captaincy.
Victor Lindelof has started more league games than Varane, but he has struggled to impress.
United are willing to let Eric Bailly and Phil Jones go, with both players expressing an interest in going on.
Despite signing a new contract in April, Bailly has only appeared seven times for United this season, with more appearances for the Cote d’Ivoire national side.
Last year, United were ready to make a move for a second centre-back, but Bailly’s contract renewal and Jones’ knee injury prevented them from doing so.
